The ingredients needed to make Beef Mechado:
  1. Make ready 1 kilo beef sirloin
  2. Make ready Salt and pepper
  3. Get 1 whole red bell pepper
  4. Make ready 2 big sliced tomatoes
  5. Make ready 4 medium size potatoes sliced
  6. Get 2 carrots medium sliced
  7. Make ready 3 teaspoon sugar
  8. Get 3 tablespoon soy sauce
  9. Get 1 big can tomato sauce
  10. Get 4 teaspoon tomato paste
  11. Make ready 4 cloves garlic crushed
  12. Get 1 whole onion sliced
  13. Take 2 cups water
  14. Take 1/2 size lemon
  15. Take 4 bay leaves
Instructions to make Beef Mechado:
  1. Marinate beef with salt and pepper and put lemon juice into it. Let it stand about a minute to absorb the juice.
  2. In a deep pan place the beef chunks, soy sauce, garlic and bay leaves. Pour the water in and bring to boil.
  3. Cover and simmer on low and cook until the beef chunks are tender for about 1-1 1/2 hours
  4. When the beef is tender add potatoes, carrots and onions. Cook for another 10-15 mins until the potatoes and carrots are almost cooked
  5. Add chopped bell peppers and tomato sauce. Stir, cover and cook until all the vegetables are tender. You can cook it uncovered if you wish a thicker sauce. Adjust seasong with sugar, soy sauce, tomato paste, salt and ground pepper to taste. (to balance out the flavors) Simmer for about 5-10 mins.
  6. Ready to serve! Enjoy!
